Apple releases iOS 16.0.2, addressing camera shake on new iPhones and copy/paste bug

It’s been less than a week since Apple launched the iPhone 14 lineup, and users have been reporting violent camera shake when opening the camera in some third-party apps. The problem is being fixed as an iOS 16.0.2 update is rolling out to iPhones ahead of schedule.

Camera shake was apparently caused by the second-generation sensor-switching OIS system on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max’s main camera. Some users reported strong shakes and noises coming from the camera when opening a non-Apple app that used the camera, making it unusable for those apps. This did not affect my personal iPhone 14 Pro unit.

Other fixes were also released with the update. There were some complaints about the new copy/paste prompt that came with iOS 16. It would ask users for permission to copy and paste content between apps, and its frequency seemed to annoy some users.

The update also fixes an issue that apparently broke touch input for some users with unresponsive touch input after a screen replacement affecting the iPhone X, XR, and iPhone 11.

The update is now rolling out to all supported iPhones. To remove the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
