At the Search On 2022 conference, Google announced that “Discussions and Forums” will get a separate section in search results, and translation of news will appear next year, reports 9to5Google.
Google describes the Discussions and Forums feature as the result of people wanting more “first-hand advice.” The section will appear “when you’re looking for something that can benefit from the diverse personal experiences found in online discussions.”
For example, if a user searches for the best family cars, in addition to other web results, they will now be linked to forum posts that contain relevant advice from people, such as their experiences with crossovers for transporting children.
According to Google, this addition “does not influence the ranking of forum-related or other search results outside the feature.”
Starting today, the feature is available to English-speaking smartphone users in the US, with no word yet on when it will roll out to other countries and languages.
In addition, automatically translated news will appear in Google Search early next year. Articles will be marked as “Translated by Google”, while the user will be able to see the original.
