State of Origin II LIVE: Brad Fittler’s future revealed before the outcome; The mother of the blues star responds to the accusation of “grub” from Queensland, Smith, suspicious of the “formidable” blues trio Slater speaks from WA 2022 Test Match Highlights: Papua New Guinea against Fiji

Liam Martin might be happy to accept the title of “grub,” but his mother, Maxine, is certainly not a fan of the sled.

Martin was called up by the Queensland media last week, with reports highlighting a series of incidents during Origin I that allegedly showed the Blues’ backrower involved in a dirty game.

It didn’t baffle him at all, and his coach, Brad Fittler, told 9News that he wanted other New South Wales players to follow Martin’s example.

But the player’s mother was not too impressed by the North Tweed’s accusation.

“When it happened, it’s like my mother bear came out,” Maxine told Hughesy, Ed and Erin on 2Day FM.

“When I watched the match I saw more facial massages than a beauty salon, they are all hard.

“I called my kids immediately when I read it, and they have banned me from reading the internet, banned them on their social media.

“It’s not a pretty tag, public enemy number 1 … or the grub, it’s not a pretty tag and I’m thinking,‘ hey, what’s going on here? “.

“When he first came out I spent a sleepless night.”
