SES Assistant Commissioner Dean Storey said today that the service had received more than 600 requests for assistance from the community.

Storey said while the rain had eased across the state, it was important to stay off roads in flooded areas and be cautious.

“The soil is saturated. The rivers and basins are full,” he said.

“The dams are also full. So any additional rain like we saw last night is really compounding that risk of flash flooding. A lot of roads are going to flood this morning. So we’re asking for awareness and caution.”
