The Privileges Committee has called for evidence when it begins its investigation into whether Boris Johnson tricked Parliament over the party door.
The committee is seeking information from witnesses that could include material related to “Mr. Johnson’s knowledge of the activities at No. 10 Downing Street and the Cabinet Office under Covid regulations, since the occurrence of these events so far “and” any information or inquiries made “. by Mr. Johnson in relation to these events “.
The committee plans to collect oral and written evidence during the course of its investigation. He also confirmed that he is “willing to take oral or written tests from people who want to remain anonymous.”
Harriet Harman, the veteran Labor MP and “mother of the House”, has been confirmed as chair of the committee.
The committee intends to appoint Rt Hon Sir Ernest Ryder, former Lord Judge of Appeal and Senior President of the Courts, as an adviser.
Oral test sessions are scheduled to begin in the fall and the test call will close on July 29th.
