He had suffered “multiple stab wounds” and police and paramedics tried to save his life, Acting Inspector Chris Hicks said on Thursday.
“She was still alive when the police arrived. She was still alive when QAS arrived. But she succumbed to her injuries,” he said.

He was allegedly found with two knives, Hicks said.
Hicks said the man lived with the woman, but could not disclose their relationship. The two men and the woman know each other.
“It’s not a random attack,” said the inspector.
The 25-year-old man will face the Townsville Magistrates Court on Friday charged with murder and aggravated assault with intent to commit an offence.
Both charges are alleged to have occurred in a domestic violence environment.
He is also accused of being armed to cause fear.
