UK weather: the latest Met Office forecast
It has been reported that the government is drawing up plans for an emergency response to the heat wave that is currently taking over the country as the Met Office has extended the amber heat warning until Monday.
The Daily Telegraph reported that a Cobra meeting was held in Downing Street on rising temperatures in the UK and the potential danger to life if temperatures reached 40ºC.
The UK Health Safety Agency could declare a “level four emergency” if the heat becomes so strong that “illnesses and deaths could occur among the fit and healthy”.
A spokesman told the newspaper, “There is a possibility of a level four heat wave. If it exceeds 104F (40C), it is likely to be a level four heat wave for the first time.”
Meanwhile, the amber extreme heat alert issued by the Meteorological Office for “exceptionally high” temperatures has been extended until next Monday, and meteorologists warn that conditions can cause serious illness or even death.
The heat wave has just begun and forecasters said there was a 30 per cent chance the UK could see record temperatures of 40ºC by the end of the week.

Dozens of Chinese cities issue a red alert when the heat reaches 40ºC
Not only are Western Europe and the United Kingdom preparing for emergency-level heat waves, but dozens of cities in China have issued a red alert after temperatures soared.
At least 86 cities issued red alerts, the highest in a three-tier warning system, after roads collapsed due to heat, shingles exploded and forcing people to stay inside.
Authorities are likely to issue a warning of temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (104 F) in the next 24 hours.
Shanghai has witnessed only 15 days of temperatures exceeding 40 degrees since records began in 1873.

Passengers warned of the interruption of transportation due to the heat
Rising temperatures are expected to cause disruptions in transportation over the next few days.
Network Rail is preparing to introduce speed restrictions to reduce the likelihood of track breaks.
This will cause delays in passenger travel and disrupt freight services.
Meanwhile, drivers are warned that there is a greater chance of a breakdown.
The RAC saw a 10 per cent increase in breakdowns on Monday compared to a typical mid-July Monday, with hundreds of vehicles across the UK being unable to function properly due to the heat.
Drivers are advised to bring a bottle of water in their vehicle. Other tips from motoring associations include leaving early and checking the conditions of the trip before leaving.

Newport schools relax rules ahead of national heatwave emergency warning
Several schools in Newport, Wales, have relaxed uniform rules for pupils and urged parents to take action as authorities are expected to declare a national emergency in the wake of the ongoing heat wave.
Newport City Council has confirmed that individual schools can issue their own uniform and other policies to keep students safe.
Several schools have asked students to drop off blazers and ties and wear custom-made shorts or physical education equipment while insisting on wearing sunscreen and carrying water bottles.
Lliswerry High School principal Neil Davies said: “Due to the very high temperatures forecast for the rest of the week and possibly next, I have made the decision to adjust the school uniform rules up to at the end of this quarter.
“Students may wear the following to school: regular school uniform (optional tie and blazer), physical education equipment, knee-length, black or dark blue plain shorts with school shirt.”
The Caerleon Comprehensive School representative said, “As you know, we expect very high temperatures this week and we would like to make sure students are well protected from the heat at school.”
“Therefore, students are not required to wear a jacket or tie during this week,” he added.
“Students can wear tailored shorts as part of their uniform.”

How was the famous 1976 heat wave in Britain?
The UK is currently suffocating in its second heat wave of the summer, with temperatures exceeding 30 ° C on Monday and slowing to exceed 35 ° C in the south-east of England on Sunday (writes Joe Sommerlad).
The Met Office has issued an amber warning about the extreme heat forecast for next weekend and has warned that the phenomenon is likely to become more common in 2050 as a result of the climate crisis.
While it is certainly scorching, the standard by which all British summers are judged remains from June to August 1976, when the United Kingdom recorded its warmest average temperature for over 350 years and its longest summer. dry for 200, a record later surpassed by an even more sterile 1995.
Subject of a recent nostalgic documentary on Channel 5, the 1976 heat wave reached its peak between June 23 and July 7, a period of 15 days during which at least somewhere in England recorded a temperature of more than 32.2ºC.
How was the famous 1976 heat wave in Britain?
The UK saw 15 consecutive days of temperatures above 32 ºC while public beaches are full and submerged in pools, ponds and springs to try to stay cool.

Worse than expected, as the European heat wave fuels forest fires
Top weather experts have said the worst is yet to come despite rising temperatures that caused wildfires in Spain and Portugal, while Western Europe is faltering with the second heat wave in weeks.
“We hope it gets worse,” World Meteorological Organization spokeswoman Clare Nullis said Tuesday at a briefing in Geneva.
“Accompanying this heat is the drought. We have very, very dry soils, ”he said.
“Alpine glaciers are being really punished right now. It’s been a very bad season for glaciers. And we’re still relatively early in the summer.”
Temperatures have risen above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) on Sunday in much of the Iberian Peninsula.
Higher temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius in parts of France, Germany and even the Netherlands over the weekend.

Britain was preparing for the outage as the heat wave could bring record temperatures
The British are being warned of a widespread disruption, as temperatures appear to be reaching a dangerously high peak in the coming days.
Meteorologists believe there is a 30% chance that mercury will surpass the current UK record of 38.7 ºC, set in Cambridge in 2019, as temperatures continue to rise over the weekend and next week.
An “amber” extreme heat warning covering much of England and Wales on Sunday and Monday says there could be a life-threatening or possible serious illness, with adverse health effects not just the more vulnerable.
There could also be road closures and delays and cancellations of rail and air travel, while ambulance services in England are at the highest level of alert, as difficulties with hot weather are combined with Covid absences among staff and constant delays in patient delivery to A&E.
It is likely that on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday there will be rain in the north of the UK and highs of 27 or 28 degrees Celsius, slightly colder than on Tuesday, which made it 31 degrees Celsius in parts of the south east of England.
