The Toronto Blue Jays have fired coach Charlie Montoyo.
Montoyo will be replaced by bench coach John Schneider as interim coach for the remainder of the season. Triple A coach Casey Candaele has been named interim coach of the Toronto bench.
The Blue Jays made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.
He is the third coach fired this season in Major League Baseball, joining Joe Girardi of Philadelphia and Joe Maddon of the Los Angeles Angels.
Montoyo set a 236-236 record for four seasons as Toronto coach.

The Toronto Blue Jays have fired coach Charlie Montoyo after a disappointing road trip to the West Coast where the team lost nine of 11 games. Montoyo will be replaced by bench coach John Schneider for the remainder of the season.
The Blue Jays have a 46-42 record this season and are currently tied with the Seattle Mariners for third and last wildcard place in the American League.
However, they have lost eight of their last 10 games, including a disappointing four-game sweep in Seattle.
The release has been a problem for the Blue Jays throughout the season.
Headline Hyun-Jin Ryu (2-0) was supposed to be a central part of Toronto’s rotation this year, but was operated on by Tommy John on June 18th. The typical recovery time of the operation is 12 to 18 months.
Yusei Kikuchi (3-5), who signed with the Blue Jays during spring training, has had problems with his command this year. He has averaged 5.12 in 16 games this season and is currently on the 15-day injury list.
