Livin ‘singer La Vida Loca faces a prison sentence for alleged incest crimes.
Singer Ricky Martin has been accused by his own nephew of alleged domestic violence in court documents, which could put the pop star behind bars for 50 years.
Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, 21, was identified as Ricky’s accuser in the case in Puerto Rico, meaning the incident could involve incest. Ricky’s brother, Eric, apparently identified Sanchez as the alleged victim, as Ricky is due to appear in court on July 21. .
Puerto Rican law has stricter penalties for certain sex crimes when the alleged victim and the accuser are related, but it is not known specifically what Ricky faces.
Spanish news website Marca reported that Ricky will face up to 50 years if convicted.
“The allegations against Ricky Martin leading to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,” Ricky’s representatives said in a statement to People.
“We are very confident that when the real facts come out in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
Ricky also made a statement on Twitter writing, “The protection order filed against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the court process with the facts and dignity that characterize me.
“As it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them wholeheartedly.”
The Grammy-winning singer was charged with domestic violence earlier this month and the identity of the alleged victim was unknown until now.
The victim received a temporary restraining order against Ricky, who has denied all charges.
Marca reported that Sanchez allegedly ended a seven-month relationship with his famous uncle, which Ricky allegedly did not take well and continued to contact his nephew and show up at his home.
Ricky is the most awarded male Latin artist with more than 200 awards, including two Grammys, five Latin Grammys, five MTV Video Music Awards and three Billboard Music Awards.
He has also received an Emmy nomination for his work as an actor and in 2007 was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
