Ryan Papenhuyzen’s season could end, with the Melbourne Storm defender suffering a suspected knee fracture on Sunday.

The Melbourne Storm winger was taken from AAMI Park after suffering a suspected knee fracture during the NRL game on Sunday afternoon against the Canberra Raiders.
Papenhuyzen was injured in the 18th minute of the 18th round of action after a strong frontal entry with Raiders captain Jack Wighton on the 40-meter line.

The 24-year-old, who was unable to put any weight on his right leg, received treatment from the team’s doctors before retiring to the cutlery in agony.
Fox Sports journalist Jake Duke later confirmed that Papenhuyzen had been taken to hospital and was expected to be operated on Monday.
“He’s very uncomfortable,” Fox League commentator Warren Smith said.
Former New South Wales representative Michael Ennis continued: “This is the last thing they needed.
“He can’t put any weight on it, that’s a real concern for Papenhuyzen.
“This is devastating for Melbourne. He’s all sorts of things. He can’t even put any pressure on all of that.”
Papenhuyzen is now facing an extended period on the sidelines, with an estimated recovery time of between six weeks and six months.
Much of the 2022 season has already been lost after suffering a PCL tear during Melbourne’s Round 9 victory over the Dragons, breaking his hamstrings in the same incident.
Meanwhile, Papenhuyzen only played 15 NRL games last year due to a concussion.
