Elon Musk’s Twitter acquisition trial will begin in October

Today, a Delaware court has ruled that Twitter’s lawsuit against Elon Musk for attempting to withdraw from its acquisition of the company will be heard in October. This is a victory for Twitter, which called for a shorter period of time than Musk.

Musk agreed to buy Twitter for $ 44 billion in April, but then it appeared the deal had been questioned. Despite giving up his ability to do “due diligence” or research on the company he had planned to acquire, he claimed Twitter had too many robots. He then tried to terminate the agreement. In response, Twitter sued to stop him from buying.

During oral arguments before the judge, Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick, Twitter claimed that Musk’s bot’s arguments were bad faith attempts to withdraw from the deal due to an acute case of buyer remorse. Twitter initially wanted a date in September; Musk asked for February. The test will be five days, longer than Twitter requested, but shorter than Musk. Exact dates have not yet been scheduled.
