Max Verstappen doubled his first day of racing in Montreal, with the championship leader topping the times for the second training session at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Verstappen clocked a time of 1m 14.127s with the soft tire, to lead the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, in second and third, by 0.081 and 0.225s respectively. It was another good session for Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin, who finished fourth.
Fernando Alonso followed his P3 in FP1, scoring the fifth fastest lap of the session, ahead of Pierre Gasly in P6 and George Russell in seventh. The McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo was very close in eighth and ninth place, with Esteban Ocon completing the top 10.
FP2: Verstappen beat Leclerc by 0.081s to sweep Friday’s training sessions in Montreal
A suboptimal soft tire race for Sergio PĂ©rez left him in 11th place, two places ahead of Lewis Hamilton in 13th place. It was another tough Friday for Valtteri Bottas, who struggled with a mechanical problem in his Alfa Romeo and was confined to the garage for most of the session.
