Two actors were killed and six were injured when a van carrying the crew of a Netflix series crashed and overturned while filming in Mexico.
Two actors were killed and six other crew members were injured after a van carrying the crew of the new Netflix series The Chosen One was involved in a terror accident.
The vehicle veered off a deserted road before overturning on Thursday near Mulege, in the Baja California Sur peninsula in Mexico. The sun reported.
Raymundo Garduno Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar were killed in the crash, the Baja California Department of Culture in Mexico told the Associated Press.
The other victims have not yet been officially identified.
The cast and crew were filming the Netflix series in nearby Santa Rosalia, along the Gulf of California.
The chosen one is an upcoming series about a 12-year-old boy who learns that he is the returned Jesus Christ and that he is destined to save mankind.
The show is based on the comic book series American Jesus by Mark Millar and Peter Gross.
According to casting calls, an independent film company had been filming the series.
Filming for the series began in April.
The US Sun has contacted Netflix for comment. It is unclear whether production of the series will stop after the crash.
A friend of the victims, Juan Francisco González Aguilar, known professionally as “Paco Mufote,” told the Daily Beast she was devastated by the tragedy.
“Paco touched the hearts of everyone he met, he was a great actor with a strong career,” said Liliana Conlisk Gallegos.
“He liked to act and play music more than anything in the world and he dedicated himself to it, often suffering financial difficulties. He sacrificed himself for his love of acting. “
Screenrant reports that the new series was different from a previous Netflix project in 2019, which dealt with doctors who stumbled upon a cult in a remote village.
The chosen one is the latest Max Millar work adapted by Netflix, after Jupiter’s Legacy in 2021.
Millar’s books are also the inspiration for successful movie franchises Kick-Ass i Kingsman.
