Homicide investigation

Kelowna RCMP are investigating a homicide outside a downtown nightclub.
On August 12th at approximately 11:00 pm, Kelowna RCMP frontline members witnessed an altercation between several people outside a nightclub in the 200 block of Lawrence Avenue.
A male victim was found on the ground with an injury and was admitted to KGH where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Another man had been seen fleeing the scene on foot.
So far, no one has been charged or arrested, but investigators continue to search the area for evidence.
Police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
“We have identified a number of people in the area who witnessed the altercation. Researchers want to talk to them. We are encouraging these witnesses to contact our investigators through our tip line 250-470-6236,” said Beth McAndie, investigative service officer.
The homicide investigation has been handed over to the Kelowna Major Crimes Unit and is supported by the Forensic Identification Section, Assault and Robbery Unit, General Investigation Support Team and the BC Forensic Service .
