Adam Scott will take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the 2022 BMW Championship. The 42-year-old has been terrific through two rounds at Wilmington Country Club, and if not for a late mistake on Friday, he would have made it a comfortable margin with 36 holes to go.
Instead, Scott finds himself at 8 under and in a battle with some of the biggest names in the game, led by Scottie Scheffler just one back. Looking to reclaim the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings, the world No. 1 joins Cameron Young, Jordan Spieth and Corey Conners at 7 under.
FedEx Cup darlings including defending champion Patrick Cantlay, world No. 3 Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele have gone two strokes off the pace. Each member of this trio has previously lifted a trophy at East Lake and would love nothing more than to enter next week’s final on the back of a BMW Championship win.
This large pack of chasers will give Scott all he can handle as a compressed leaderboard sees half the field within six strokes of the lead.
