Influenza Immunization Competency Course: Fundamentals of Influenza Disease and Vaccines

For those who do not use flu immunizations, as well as for those who want detailed information about the disease and/or vaccines.

Purpose: To learn or update knowledge about influenza illness, influenza vaccines, and practical considerations. Although the BCCDC Comprehensive Immunization Competency Course is recommended for all new vaccine providers, this course has been adapted to be a more comprehensive competency course, based on the Immunization Competencies for Health Care Professionals. BC Health (an adaptation of the Public Health Agency of Canada’s immunization competencies). , for new immunizers that will only provide flu shots. For Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), this course fulfills the BCCNM’s additional education requirement (condition) for LPNs to autonomously administer influenza vaccines.

Intended Audience: Any interested vaccinators (PHNs, pharmacists, physicians, naturopathic physicians, midwives, LPNs, RNs, RPNs, OHNs, travel nurses, vaccine trial nurses), as well as interested healthcare students.
