Said the notoriously private star GQ magazine that felt emotional agitation and deep sadness are an inevitable part of growth.
“I think all our hearts are broken,” Pitt said.
“I’ve always felt very lonely in my life, growing up as a child, lonely even out here, and it really wasn’t until recently that I had a bigger hug from my friends and family.”
Pitt, 58, also said he has found joy “later in life.”
“I was always moving with the currents, drifting one way and the next,” he told the post.
“I think I spent years with a low-grade depression, and it wasn’t until I accepted it, trying to embrace all sides of the self, the beauty and the ugly, that I was able to capture those moments of joy. ”
The Oscar winner, who starred in iconic films such as Ocean’s Eleven, Fight Club, Inglourious Basterdsand more recently, Once upon a time in Hollywood – also revealed the big news that his days of acting were numbered.
“I consider myself in my last stage,” he said. “This last semester or quarter. What will this section be? And how do I design this?
“I am one of those creatures who speaks through art. I just always want to do it. If I’m not doing it, I’m dying somehow. “
In recent years, the actor has probably spent more time behind the camera, with his producer Plan B Entertainment releasing critically acclaimed films such as 12 years of slavery, moonlight, i Minari.
Pitt and Jolie, 47, ended their 12-year relationship in 2016, sparking a year-long divorce battle that has yet to materialize. In 2019 they declared themselves legally single.
The couple shares six children, three biological and three who were adopted.
Since the breakup, Pitt has made significant changes in his life, including staying sober.
“I had a very interesting group of men here who were very private and selective, so it was safe,” Pitt said. “I had seen things from other people that had been recorded while they were spilling their guts, and that’s atrocious to me.”
He also made the decision to quit smoking cigarettes at the start of the pandemic.
“I don’t have that ability to do just one or two a day,” he told the network. “It’s not in my makeup. I’m all inside. And I’m going to drive on the ground. I’ve lost my privileges.”
