Shares in Ramsay Health Care fall 14% after takeover talks were blocked

Shares in Australian hospital operator Ramsay Health Care fell as much as 14.6% after the company announced that a consortium led by KKR was “not in a position to improve the terms” of a proposed takeover.

Ramsay Health rejected the proposal earlier this year, saying the offer was “significantly inferior”.

The company’s shares later recovered slightly, but were still 11% lower.

Nio jumps more than 20% at the open after the Deutsche Bank report

Hong Kong-listed shares of Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio jumped as much as 21% at the open after a bullish report from Deutsche Bank.

Reiterating his buy rating, analyst Edison Yu made minor changes to forecasts and said Nio remains Deutsche Bank’s top China electric vehicle pick in a note dated September 12.

“The company’s efforts in terms of user experience, battery exchange, overseas expansion and internal battery cell development are not highly valued and, eventually, they will show clear differentiation as the local Chinese market becomes increasingly competitive,” Yu wrote.

The company’s shares were last 17% higher.

The company’s shares jumped more than 20% immediately after Netflix released a letter in June from director Hwang Dong-hyuk announcing the series would return for a second season.

Other content-related stocks CJ ENM and CJ CGV also rose more than 2.5% in the morning session, and Showbox rose 1.5%.
