Police are investigating a shooting involving Suleiman “Sam” Abdulrahim, a former Mongol mobster, in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Sources have told The Age that Abdulrahim was shot when he was leaving a funeral, before being taken to Fawkner’s police station where an ambulance was called.

He was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
