A man has been charged by police in Western Australia after he allegedly kidnapped a nine-year-old girl from a Perth park and treated her indecently at a nearby house.
Police said the 39-year-old man approached the girl, who was not known to him, yesterday morning in a park in Doubleview, in the northwest suburbs of the city.
He is accused of coercing the girl into a nearby residence where he treated her indecently.
The girl was able to leave the house and alert relatives of the incident, police said.
Shortly afterwards, the man was arrested and charged by detectives from the WA police child abuse team.
The man, from Doubleview, has been charged with two counts of indecently dealing with a minor under the age of 13, one of kidnapping and one of encouraging a child to engage in sexual behavior.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates’ Court today.
