Amber Heard appeared to make a joke about Edward Scissorhands during her first television interview since the defamation suit filed by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
The Aquaman star discussed the verdict, which proved Depp right, in a new interview with NBC’s Today.
In the final arguments, Depp’s attorney stated that Heard had been “acting” and described his testimony as “the performance of a lifetime.”
In response to the clip, Heard replied, “Does the lawyer for the man who convinced the world that he had scissors for his fingers say? Am I the interpreter?
“I had heard weeks of witnesses insinuating or saying outright that I was a terrible actress. So I’m a little confused about how they could both be. “
Depp sued Heard for $ 50 million (£ 39.8 million) for a Washington Post opinion piece entitled: “I spoke out against sexual violence and faced the wrath of our culture “That needs to change.”
The article did not mention Depp by name, but the pirate star’s lawyers argued that it falsely implies that he physically and sexually abused Heard during their relationship.
Heard sued for $ 100 million (£ 80.9 million), accusing Depp of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and describing her lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.
On Wednesday, June 1, the jury shared its verdicts and found that Heard had defamed Depp in all three respects.
The jury found that Heard defamed Depp for all three charges and awarded him $ 10 million (£ 8 million) in compensatory damages and $ 5 million (£ 4 million) in punitive damages. Heard received $ 2 million (£ 1.6 million) in compensatory damages, but no punitive damages.
