UPDATE 17:45 UK: Ubisoft has said that the owners of Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will still be able to play and re-download the game after their servers close on September 1st.
The new statement, transmitted to Eurogamer this evening, seems to contradict the message visible today on the page of the game store. That will now change.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD.
Here is Ubisoft’s full statement:
“As stated in our support article, only DLC and online features will be affected by the next deactivation. Current owners of these games will still be able to access, play, or revert to Our teams are working with our partners to update this information everywhere.all showcases and are also evaluating all available options for players who will be affected when the online services of these games stop working on September 1, 2022.
“It has always been our intention to do everything in our power to allow these inherited titles to be available in the best possible conditions for players, and that is what we are working on.”
ORIGINAL STORY 10.15am UK: Ubisoft has warned that Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD “will not be accessible” from September 1st.
The game is no longer available for purchase “at the request of the publisher,” indicates a warning notice on the game’s Steam page.
Silent Hunter 5, an Ubisoft underwater combat simulator, also has the same warning messages.
And, interestingly, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands has a similar warning, albeit only for the Deluxe Edition and the game’s DLC.
Ubisoft’s decision to make this selection of games and DLC inaccessible follows the previous announcement that Ubisoft was shutting down a number of online services for older games.
This announcement went bad among fans and in fact with a Ubisoft development studio. The maker of Anno 2070, Ubisoft Mainz, said it was trying to patch up its game, so it could be played after its servers shut down.
Another Ubisoft game that will become inaccessible after September 1 is Space Junkies, which is one of the titles that will shut down its online servers. As an online-only game, however, it at least makes sense.
But what about Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD? Eurogamer contacted Ubisoft to comment and received the following statement about the publisher’s previous announcement to shut down the servers.
“We have not made the decision to withdraw services for old Ubisoft games lightly, and our teams are currently evaluating all options available to players who will be affected when the online services for these games are discontinued. run on Sept. 1, 2022, “an Ubisoft spokesman said. he told us.
“We are also working with our partners to update this information on all storefronts, so that players will be fully informed about the removal of online services at the point of purchase, as well as through our support article where we shared the news “.
We look forward to learning more about Liberation HD specifically and will update when we do.
