Panthers assistant coach Cameron Ciraldo has turned down an offer to take over as head coach of the Wests Tigers in an overwhelming blow as the club continues its search to replace Michael Maguire.
The Tigers confirmed the news on Saturday afternoon, writing in a statement that Ciraldo and his management had contacted the club to let them know “that he is not in a position to accept the role at this time of his career “.

“Although we are disappointed, we respect his decision and will continue with the selection process to appoint the head coach of our club,” the statement continued.
Fox League James Hooper reported earlier this month that the Tigers offered Ciraldo a guided tour of the club’s Center of Excellence, which will soon open in Concord as he met with top power agents Tim Sheens and President Lee. Hagipantelis.
Ciraldo is still in the equation for the Bulldogs first place finish, and while the Warriors are also looking for a new coach, it is understood the Panthers assistant is not interested.
As for the Tigers, people like John Morris and Kristian Woolf are still candidates for the role.
Ciraldo was the best option to take over the reigning Tigers after Sheens made it clear the club were looking for a development coach to lead the way to Concord.
“We’re looking for a development coach,” Sheens said shortly after Maguire’s departure.
“Someone who is ready to give opportunities to our young people. He will have to be patient.
“Tomorrow will not be an easy solution. Those kids we have a lot of 21 years or less in the club.

“We just have to choose where we have to choose, grow and develop hard and continue with our development program, which will be next year and next year and next year.
“Now we have great roads. We are determined to take a hit on that. It will take some time, but I’m not saying it will be three years before we get a result.
“It will be for a period of three years that we will have to improve and improve and develop the children, as well as the younger players and veterans that we will have to choose here and there.”
