88 min To add to Geyoro’s misery, this is his last touch of the game. Clara Mateo replaces her.
87 min: What an opportunity for Geyoro! Bacha goes for a carpe diem slalom across the field before finding Cascarino on the right. His brilliant deep cross takes Van Domselaar out of the game but the leaping Geyoro heads home from four yards! Perhaps the cross was a little behind her; that’s the only reason he could have lost.

86 min “Why,” pleads Matt Dony, “don’t the France fans serenade Diani to Deanna’s tune?”
85 min A prolonged period of possession for the Netherlands ends with a worn ball from the back.
83 min France haven’t been as dominant since the break. If they lose another quarter-final, those first-half chances will haunt them for a long time.
80 min Miedema produces his best touch of the game, a volley into Pelova, but is in trouble.

79 min It’s very tense now, with both teams aware of the potential consequences if they fall behind at such a late stage.
77 min Jackie Groenen is cramping, allowing the players to take a breather.
76 min It’s a set piece game at the moment. Bacha’s free-kick from the left is well headed by Renard, who misses his jump and can’t get past the ball.
75 min Bacha’s corner kick is headed off Renard by Miedema, a vital part of the defence.
73 min Bacha hits a snap shot from 25 yards that wobbles awkwardly but is saved comfortably by Van Domselaar.
73 min Brugts has moved to the left wing, with Pelova to the right.
72 min Another change for the Netherlands: teenager Esmee Brugts replaces the moderate Danielle van de Donk.
72 min Van der Gragt is booked for stopping Peyraud-Magnin from launching a counter-attack.
69 min Bacha’s corner goes straight into the hands of Van Domselaar.
69 min After a slow start to the second half, France dominate again. Cascarino gets away from Casparij, who recovers well to concede a corner.

68 min It’s still 0-0!
66 min: Chance for France! The resulting corner is headed goalwards by Renard and pushed by Van Domselaar, who dives wide to his right. It’s a good stop.

65 minutes Van Domselaar pushed the rise of Bacha, a comfortable stop. Bacha has been fantastic since coming on as a substitute.
64 min: A goal-line clearance hat-trick for Stefanine Van der Gragt! Bacha’s deep corner is turned away by Renard, and Van der Gragt heads inside his own six-yard box. She might not have gone in head first, but Mbock Bathy was behind her waiting for the goal.
63 min Bacha sends a sharp cross to Diani on the edge of the area. It gets away from Van der Gragt briefly, who recovers well to block the shot.
62 min A change for France: Selma Bacha comes on for Melvine Malard. Bacha went on the left side, Cascarino on the right and Diani in front.
59 min This was the Netherlands’ first shot on target in the game, although Peyraurd-Magnin saved Karchaoui’s header in the first half.
58 min This is a much more even second half. Spitse drills another corner beyond the far post, where Van der Gragt meets it with a powerful downward header. Peyraud-Magnin gets down to make a comfortable save.
56 min: Chance for Miedema! Spitse curls the corner to the far post, where Miedema loses Karchaoui, but then carves an admittedly awkward volley over the bar from six yards. The ball was reaching a difficult height, but it was still the Netherlands’ best chance so far.

56 min Pelova makes a good pass to Casparij, who forces Mbocy Bathy to slide and concede a corner. Left back Casparij has looked good going forward.
54 min The two French full-backs, Cascarino and Diani, have been in brilliant form tonight.
51 min Cascarino beats Wilms down the left and sends a cross to the far post, where Geyoro’s shot is superbly blocked by Casparij.
50 min It’s been a better start to the second half from the Netherlands. That is to say that Van der Gragt has not yet left the line.
47 min After a promising break, Pelova cuts in from the left and has a shot blocked by Mbock Bathy.
46 min Danielle van de Donk has moved to the right wing to accommodate Roord in midfield.
46 min The Netherlands start the second half, and they make a change: Jill Roord, who criticized coach Mark Parsons during the week, comes on for Lineth Beerensteyn.
“Your job, Rob, if you want to accept it, is to explain why France doesn’t reach four niles,” says Charles Antaki.
I’ve thought about it a bit, and I guess I’d say Stefanie van der Gragt RON (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsteːfaːni vɑn dər ˈɣrɑxt]; born 16 August 1992) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a defender for AFC Ajax.[2] and the selection of the Netherlands. She has represented her country at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup[3] and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.[4]
“If France can’t get their mallards soon,” says Justin Kavanagh, “all these young ladies could go home to sleep and be left with egg on their faces. Now I’ll get the duck out of here.”
Reading in the middle of the day
Middle: France 0-0 Holland
It’s 0-0. I have no idea how, but it’s 0-0. France have been completely dominant and could easily be four up. Sandie Toletti missed a chair, Delphine Cascarino hit the post and Stefanie Van der Gragt made two spectacular goal-line clearances to deny Melvine Malard and Grace Geyoro.

42 min Janssen makes a desperate sliding challenge to beat Malard to Geyoro’s low cross. The Netherlands are defending heroically, but they certainly won’t be able to keep it up for 120 minutes.
41 min: Van der Gragt goes off the line again! Amazing stuff. Renard, who was still up after a corner, headed a long cross towards Geyoro. He hit a half volley from close range which was again blocked by Van der Gragt.
France unsuccessfully appealed for a penalty. He hit Van der Gragt’s arm, but she was holding it to her chest so it wasn’t a handball.
Renard could have gone for the goal herself, though she seemed to have put it on a plate for Geyoro. Van der Gragt had other ideas.

41 min One thing I will say for the Netherlands: their kit is superb. No team in world football produces so many fantastic kits.

40 min Groenen is again lucky to avoid a yellow card, this time for a thwarted hack on Diani.
37 min: Off the line for Van der Gragt! This goalless dominance of France is getting stupid. It was a magnificent move, which started with Bilbault throwing a pass to Perisset on the right. He played in Diani, under the overlap, whose strong cut took the keeper out of play and found Malard at the far post. Malard stretched to control the ball, which was slightly behind her, and took a shot on the turn that Van der Gragt kneeled off the line. A tremendous defense.

35 min Miedema has been very quiet, although that is more a reflection of the balance of the game than any fitness issues.
34 min The good news for the Netherlands is that it’s still 0-0.
