For people who are usually eligible for a government-funded vaccine (see eligible groups), continue to provide government-funded vaccines to these groups.
Are there changes in the framework of the National Immunization Program (NIP)?
There are no changes for people who already meet the requirements of the PIN and should continue to access the flu vaccine. Vaccination of people eligible for the PIN and improving uptake among these vulnerable Western Australians is the top priority. Do people have to be WA residents to be able to receive a free vaccination in June and July?
No, this program is available to everyone in WA, including interstate visitors.
Can non-Medicare cardholders get a free vaccination during the months of June and July?
Yes. Everyone over the age of six can get a free flu shot, including those who do not have a Medicare card. It will be recommended that people without a Medicare card access the service through COVID-19 community vaccination pharmacies or clinics, as the cost of administration is subsidized for all recipients of the flu vaccine through ‘these services.
How is this financed?
The initiative is funded by the Western Australian government. Although billing practices for GP clinics remain at the discretion of individual providers, it is expected that a consultation directly related to vaccine administration according to this scheme will not incur a cost to the patient. . Similarly, pharmacies and AMS should not charge an administration fee to anyone who receives an influenza vaccine.
I am an immunization provider, how can I request government funded flu vaccines for eligible people in June and July?
GP Clinics: When you run out of private vaccines for eligible people only in July and you can’t ask for more, government-funded vaccines are available to order.
Community Pharmacies and AMS: Government-funded vaccines can be ordered.

No. This is a limited time program and is available to people in Western Australia who have not yet received the flu vaccine by 2022. Reimbursement for previous vaccinations will not be provided.
