Kendrick Lamar performs in Glastonbury

The last day in Glastonbury ended with a mind-boggling performance by American rapper Kendrick Lamar.

For five days, fans danced to performances by prominent artists such as Paul McCartney, Little Simz, Pet Shop Boys, Sam Fender and Billie Eilish.

On the last day of the festival, George Ezra appeared on the John Peel stage in what was possibly the worst-kept secret in Glastonbury’s history, while jazz-fusion legend Herbie Hencock delighted the audience by relaxing. se on the Pyramid stage with a virtuoso performance.

At 4 p.m., it was time for Diana Ross at the Legends slot, drawing what should have been one of the largest audiences ever to see this tea hour show. The Supreme icon released all of the shows, from “I’m Coming Out” to “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Chain Reaction” and “Upside Down.” Unfortunately, some people could not help but complain about his singing (really), which caused many to demonstrate in his defense.

Then we had sets from Elbow, Megan Thee Stallion, McFly, American artist Lorde, DakhaBrakha, Burna Boy, Olivia Rodrigo and Kacey Musgraves.

Lorde says “shit with the Supreme Court” from the Pyramid Stage in Glastonbury

In case you missed it, Lorde performed at the Pyramid Stage on Sunday evening (June 26) where he delivered a speech that concluded with: “F *** the Supreme Court.”

“Welcome to sadness,” the singer said on stage. “The temperature is unbearable until you face it. Do you want to hear a girls secret? Your bodies were meant to be controlled and objectified from before you were born.

“This horror is your birthright. But here’s another secret. You have an ancient strength. Ancient wisdom. The wisdom that has propelled all the women who came before you. This wisdom is also your birthright. “Today I ask you to exercise this wisdom is the work of your life because it all depends on it. Shit the Supreme Court.”

The musician’s speech was greeted with cheers from the crowd, before launching into a performance of his 2021 track “Mood Ring”.

Done and dusted (almost)!

And that’s it! There you have it people, Glastonbury 2022 is over … (at least officially; unofficially, the back party is probably still taking place at Worthy Farm).

As Roisin O’Connor writes, “The glorious and long-awaited return to Worthy Farm turned out to be one of the most colorful, eclectic, and seemingly crime-free events we have ever seen.”

See below our summary of the must-see moments of this year’s festival …

What a final at Glastonbury 2022

It’s hard to imagine a more compelling conclusion for Glastonbury 2022 than Kendrick Lamar’s statement in support of women’s rights following the Roe v Wade ruling.

It is safe to say that chills were heard at Worthy Farm.

Olivia Rodrigo – Saturday Review

It may not have been a headliner, but Olivia Rodrigo put on one of the festival’s most iridescent and blistering performances on Saturday afternoon.

Anyone who tells you that this year’s Glastonbury is stuck in the 1970s, it’s clear that it hasn’t been on Olivia Rodrigo’s show, where you can find the highest concentration of teenagers screaming outside of TikTok.

The warm afternoon sunlight shines with its knee-length DMs, the mirror mosaic piano and the violet electroacoustic guitar, this is one of the most iridescent and sweet shows on Saturday at Worthy Farm.

Although best known for her grungy hit “good 4 u”, Rodrigo has a back catalog full of ballads about lovelessness. Today her performance includes “happier”, “hope your ok” and a song she says is from her childhood acting career, “all I want”. She pulls off her breakthrough, “driver’s license,” soon.

Then comes a surprise version of Avril Lavigne’s 2003 grunge hit, “Complicated,” during which Rodrigo kicks the piano. That alone would have been enough to delight this crowd of deer eyes. But then Rodrigo announces that he will bring a special guest. At first, it looks like the words “Billie Eilish” have come out of her lips. And it would make sense: the headliner of Pyramid Stage played the night before. But it turns out it’s just her accent, because it’s Lily Allen who takes the stage and sets the stage for a big moment of the festival.

“Yesterday, the Supreme Court decided to overturn the law that allowed safe abortion,” Rodrigo says. “I am devastated and terrified and many women and girls will die because of it.

“I will dedicate this song to the judges of the Supreme Court. I hate you.”

Allen, dressed in monochrome with a Chanel clamp, looks a little shy, a little deliriously happy, as she duets with a lush Rodrigo. The “deja vu” continues, and for a moment it seems as if Rodrigo isn’t dropping his biggest hit. But he makes a “good 4 u” on his purple microphone, with a lot of support from a crowd that sounds louder than ever. Yes, it might be true that Paul McCartney will play later, but for now the zoomers are taking the wheel.

Paul McCartney headline Saturday – review

After the Billie Eilish star set on Friday, Paul McCartney had big shoes to fill on Saturday.

The Beatles legend got it, though, with just a little help from his friends Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen.

“Like any community dig through an unlimited treasure chest, the show becomes an affectionate reminiscence. McCartney remembers making the Beatles’ debut demo – the fall of the country” In Spite of All the Danger ” , performed very well – for a pound each after having to return it to his old bassist who made a “considerable profit.” The story flows naturally in a reverent “Love Me Do,” then a “Here Today “, his open letter not delivered to John Lennon, full of emotion.

Once the big shows start coming, they don’t stop. “Lady Madonna” on a pepperesc piano. “Something” expands from his solo performance of ukulele to a majestic stream. “Get Back” accompanied by archive images specially compiled by Jackson. All of McCartney’s fragments of the Abbey Road potpourri were scattered throughout. You can check out the inclusion of “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” but for Mike’s width the breadth of the field. ”
