A horror crash at the Commonwealth Games has seen Matt Walls fly into the crowd.
A massive build-up of riders at Lee Valley VeloPark took place during the second phase of the men’s qualifying scratch race on day three of Birmingham 2022.
Walls required medical attention and was later taken to hospital, with Isle of Man’s Matt Bostock carried away on a stretcher, prompting applause from the spectators.
One member of the crowd was taken away in a wheelchair covered in blood, while a girl was treated for a cut on her arm.
Screens were eventually placed around the area where Walls was treated.

It is the second major crash in as many days after Joe Truman was knocked out and suffered a suspected broken collarbone after being crushed at 70km/h in the velodrome.
The rest of the session in the velodrome was soon abandoned with the space empty. Only one additional sprint race was scheduled before a break.

There weren’t enough right riders at the end of the race for the result to stand.
A statement from British Cycling said: “Following a crash in the men’s scratch, Matt Walls and Matt Bostock are being treated by medics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
“We send our best wishes to the drivers and spectators involved in the incident, and will provide a further update when we can.”
