Ian Foster’s future will be decided in the coming days after the All Blacks tour South Africa.

Foster remains in limbo after the win to ease the pressure against South Africa, with NZ Rugby chief executive Mark Robinson refusing to confirm he will retain the All Blacks job.

Robinson confirmed to the media on Sunday that he will meet with team management when everyone gets home.

In the final 10 minutes, the All Blacks topple their hosts at Ellis Park.

No further comments will be made until later. The result of the tour summary is expected to be known later this week.

“We think we know where we are and we just have to work,” Robinson said.

“We’ll take stock, meet with management as soon as we reasonably can when we get home and explain how the tour went and where we see things at the moment.

Robinson said the appointment of the coach was ultimately the responsibility of the New Zealand Rugby board.

“I know you would like more details and I know you would like more clarification. The most we can say is that we are focused on getting everyone home, we will have several conversations over the next few days and we hope to be able to comment in more detail, more confidently, in the deadlines I just made. described.”

New Zealand Rugby chief executive Mark Robinson said the board would ultimately decide Ian Foster’s fate.

Robinson said Foster and his team have had the support of NZ Rugby. But he was unable to say whether he would remain in charge when the All Blacks were drawn to play Argentina in Christchurch on August 27.

“We just have to work through this short period to understand where the next steps are with this management team.

“We’ve been having conversations [with Foster] at this point, so we think we know where we are and where we stand. We just have to work with him.”

On speculation that Scott Robertson was in line to take over as All Blacks coach, Robinson said: “We’re certainly not going to comment on anything to do with people in and around that.”

He emphasized that the entire management team will be assessed, not just Foster’s position.

He acknowledged that this had been a difficult time for Foster, in particular.

“These have been really difficult times over the last few weeks, there’s no doubt about that.

“There’s a lot of passion and speculation, a lot of expectation around the team and the organization, so we appreciate that.

“But like we said, we have to take the time to make sure we have this team ready to do whatever it takes to be successful.”

Robinson said NZR was “absolutely delighted” for the team and management after Sunday’s win.

“It was an incredible performance and result, in an incredibly hostile stadium at Ellis Park and the home of South African rugby.

“So we’re delighted that after the last few weeks of adversity and really tough times that the team can come through this.

“We’re very proud of them, they represent everything we know the All Blacks stand for, and it was a really critical moment in the development of this team that I’m very proud of.”
