Illness alert after deadly outbreak of Victorian disease at UK university: one dead

“Our research has shown that all three people with active tuberculosis are closely linked to the person who sadly died in October 2021. Tuberculosis is difficult to transmit. It requires close and prolonged contact with an infectious person because one person is ‘infected.

“Efforts are continuing to identify close contacts for the three cases of active tuberculosis, all of whom were invited for tuberculosis screening by the Hywel Dda University Health Council. However, we encourage everyone to be aware of the symptoms of tuberculosis. tuberculosis.

“If you have any symptoms, we recommend that you talk to your GP, who can give you the right advice and refer you for tuberculosis if needed.”
