Liz Cheney delivers a speech on the future of the GOP
Donald Trump has used an interview on far-right channel Newsmax to attack Mark Meadows ’former aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, who gave devastating testimony about him to the Jan. 6 committee this week.
“The woman lives in a fantasy country,” she told the network. “She’s a social climber.” Mrs. Hutchinson’s testimony has been received with horror and admiration, and critics have struggled to evict the perception that makes a criminal conviction for Mr. Trump much more likely.
Meanwhile, committee vice president Liz Cheney delivered a fiery speech last night at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Wednesday night, receiving thunderous applause from an audience of relatively ordinary Republicans and critics of Trump.
In excoriating statements, Ms. Cheney said Trump’s efforts have turned out to be “more chilling and threatening” than imagined.
“Republicans can’t be both loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution,” he said, amid applause.
