‘I hope Ronaldo stays’: United’s Casemiro urges friend to stay at Old Trafford
Manchester United have completed the €100m signing of Antony from Ajax in their biggest transfer deadline day yet. The Brazil international has put pen to paper on a contract at Old Trafford that runs until 2027, with the option of a further year, and follows Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martínez, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro through the door this summer. “This is an incredible moment in my career to join one of the most iconic clubs in the world,” said the 22-year-old.
Elsewhere, Manuel Akanji has completed his move to Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year deal, while Leicester have made their first overseas signing as they announced the arrival of Belgium international Wout Faes from Reims. He replaces Wesley Fofana, who joined Chelsea for £70m on Wednesday.
Liverpool are set to sign Arthur on loan from Juventus to ease their injury woes in midfield, while Arsenal are chasing cover in that area of the pitch with Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz a target more likely Chelsea have been the biggest spenders of the summer with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to be their latest arrival with the former Arsenal captain joining after just six months at Barcelona with what ‘expect it to be a two-year contract.

Fulham sign Layvin Kurzawa
Layvin Kurzawa has signed for the Cottagers on a season-long loan deal from PSG. The 29-year-old left-back has made more than 100 appearances for the French side and will bring a wealth of experience to the newly-promoted Premier League side.
“I feel very, very happy to be here,” the 29-year-old told the club’s website. “It’s a family here, everyone is very cool.
“I’ve watched every Fulham game this season and I can’t wait to play with this team.”

Bednarek is not heading to West Ham
Jan Bednarek’s proposed move to West Ham looks unpalatable, but on deadline day nothing is certain until the window closes.
The Southampton defender is now believed to be on his way to another club with reports suggesting Aston Villa could be the new destination.
If Bednarek goes to Midland instead of London, he could see Craig Dawson stay at West Ham rather than move to Wolves, which would be his preference.

Dest chooses Milan over Manchester
Manchester United target Sergino Dest has opted to join AC Milan reports Fabrizio Romano.
Barcelona and United States right-back Dest will join the Serie A club on an initial season-long loan, with Milan having the option to make the deal permanent for £17.3m (20 million euros).
United had been linked with a late move for the right-back, but the 21-year-old appears to prefer a move to Italy.

Everton are interested in Spartak Moscow striker Shamar Nicholson, The Independent understands.
Frank Lampard has made his desire to bring in more attacking players clear as he has been forced to start Anthony Gordon up front so far this season.

Danish striker Martin Brathwaite has left Barcelona by mutual consent.
A club statement read: “FC Barcelona and the player Martin Braithwaite have reached an agreement to release the player’s contract with the Club until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Lille are interested in Everton midfielder Gomes on loan
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes could join Ligue 1 side Lille on loan, The Independent understands.
The 29-year-old Portugal international is yet to feature for Frank Lampard’s men this season.
And with him a bit over the top, Lille are preparing to swoop in and secure him on a temporary basis.
However, his wages could be an obstacle as Gomes has a substantial wage packet at Goodison Park.

Villa sealed transfer Bednarek
Athletic reports that Jan Bednarek will leave Southampton for Aston Villa in the next few hours.
The 26-year-old Poland international had been linked with a move to West Ham earlier today to replace Craig Dawson, who looks set to join Wolves.
But Villa now appear to have overruled David Moyes’ side and agreed a deal for the Saints centre-back.
