Erik ten Hag wants his former player to start rebuilding at Old Trafford to make United competitive again at the top of the Premier League.
The 22-year-old winger had an outstanding season last season with 12 goals and set up ten assists in 33 games in all competitions for the Dutch title winners.
Antony is also full of admiration for his former coach Ten Hag, who himself moved from Ajax to United to ignite a rebirth of the fallen giant.
In a farewell message to Ten Hag after his departure from Ajax, Antony posted on social media: “I want to thank you for everything you’ve taught me.
“Know that I will always be with you if you need me.”
United are chasing up to five players this summer, but fans are already nervous about their lack of transfer activity so far.
New CEO Richard Arnold went to a Cheshire pub on Saturday to appease a group of fans who were willing to leave his home to express their concerns.
He told them the money was there for a rebuild, with about £ 200 million believed to be in the possession of Ten Hag and the transfer of Chief John Murtough.

Ten Hag flies not only to Anthony of Ajax, but also to central Jurrien Timber, though that deal seems less likely.
Former United coach Louis van Gaal has warned Timber that if he doesn’t have enough playing time at United, he will be left out of his Dutch World Cup squad, which seems to have scared the player.
United are still trying to get their main summer midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
Arnold insisted on Saturday to fans that the club was doing everything possible to reach an agreement.

Arnold said: “As a club we are doing our best to reach an agreement, I have been trying to do this for days.
“Money is there, but there are things that stand in our way that I can’t say.”
The problem is that De Jong is not so keen to leave the Camp Nou, while coach Xavi wants a ready replacement if he leaves.
United are reluctant to pay the £ 64 million Barça paid with cash problems to get him out of Ajax in the first place.
The Red Devils and Tottenham are monitoring Christian Eriksen’s situation after the Dane’s short-term deal expired in Brentford.
