Premier League: Five essential picks for your fantasy team
Brighton claimed a famous first win at Old Trafford as Manchester United suffered a nightmare defeat in Erik ten Hag’s first Premier League game in charge.
After Bruno Fernandes missed an early chance, Pascal Gross made the worst possible start for Ten Hag when he headed Danny Welbeck’s cross at the back post to give the visitors a deserved lead. And it quickly turned into a disastrous afternoon as Gross doubled Brighton’s lead after a brilliant display from the team as there were boos at Old Trafford at half-time.
Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench after being left out of United’s starting line-up and although the hosts were able to pull one back, Brighton held on to celebrate a famous victory that underlined the scale of the task at hand faced Ten Hag.

Haaland’s opening brace leads Man City to dominant win at West Ham
An image of the future and an image we are willing to see so many times this season.
It’s not just Erling Haaland’s goal, Manchester City’s win and in general it looks like they’re on their way to another title. It was also the specific manner in which they sealed that 2-0 win over a lukewarm West Ham.
This is what should be most alarming for the rest of the Premier League and for Europe.
On 65 minutes, in the midst of one of the few spells in the game when West Ham finally decided to step it up and play with some grit and energy, we were shown a new risk that will be well known.
Kevin De Bruyne picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch and with space finally appearing behind that defence, the Belgian made a divine pass for Haaland to slide in and sneak in his second of the game.
The straight lines were so clean they almost emphasized the sterile industrialization of the City domain.

West Ham – Manchester City 0-2
An instant classic from a post-match interview of Erling Haaland swearing in English and then swearing after realizing he’s not allowed to swear on TV. He also thinks he should have scored a hat-trick, which is scary. “A good start,” is his verdict.

Gup. Per Roy Keane on Sky Sports, the fastest goalscorer to 50 Premier League goals is Andy Cole in 65 games.
Keane points out that Cole did not take penalties. “It’s going to break all the records,” says Keane. “Good luck to the defenders against him.”
