A royal insider has claimed Meghan Markle requested a “one-on-one meeting” with King Charles, allegedly about her and her husband’s position in the royal family, before the couple left home for the US .
Neil Sean, an entertainment journalist who has been a regular covering the US royals, said a well-placed source revealed Markle sent a letter to the new monarch asking for a private chat.
“Now he would like before he goes back to California to have a one-on-one audience with King Charles III,” Neil Sean said in a recent YouTube video.
“That’s right, Meghan one-on-one with King Charles. You heard right.
“It’s a very brave move by Meghan herself.”
Sean speculated whether the request would help or hinder the couple’s fractured relationship with the royal family after years of controversy.
“It would be an opportunity to clear the air, get the rights out of the way and explain some of the reasons for what they’ve been doing for the last couple of years,” he continued.
“Now, you know, you have to admire Meghan’s self-confidence, whatever you think.
“The truth is, we have no idea if this is going to go forward.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could lose Frogmore Cottage as King Charles debates what to do with royal residences in Britain.
Charles will be in charge of the palace carousel, as he decides where he will live in the first place and who will be given the keys to other properties.
After ascending to the throne, King Charles is now essentially the owner of a whole host of properties.
But it is understood the new king is not a fan of the sprawling palace and may use it simply as an office.
Reports say the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be kicked out of Frogmore Cottage following their permanent move to the US.
Harry and Meghan moved into the Georgian home in April 2019, a month before baby Archie was born and after major renovations were completed.
Their five-bedroom property, a gift from the Queen, was said to have required a “substantial overhaul” before they could move in, including new heating, wiring and utilities.
But less than a year later, the couple announced they were stepping back from their roles as senior members of the royal family.
They spent six weeks in Canada between November 2019 and January 2020 before settling in the US.
