GEELONG has named an unchanged squad for its preliminary final against Brisbane at the MCG on Friday night at 7.50pm.
It will be a great occasion for both clubs with the winner advancing to this year’s Grand Final where the winner of the second Preliminary Final between Sydney and Collingwood will be played.
Three Cats will reach major career milestones on Friday night.
Fullback Jed Bews will celebrate his 150th game for the club after being selected as father/son in 2011, coach Chris Scott will reach his 500th AFL game as a player and coach, and Joel Selwood will equal Michael Tuck’s record for most plays.
Geelong and Brisbane last met in Round 4 with the Cats 10-point winners on that occasion, but both sides have evolved their games since then.
Senior coach Chris Scott is confident in his team’s preparation this time around.
“We feel very confident in our preparation and we’re hitting the ground running a lot. The guys that needed extra work have gotten it, the guys that needed a refresh have gotten it,” Scott said at Thursday morning’s press conference at GMHBA . stadium
“We feel a level of anxiety that all competitors feel going into these games, but really confident in our preparation.”
Brandan Parfitt, Mark O’Connor, Sam Menegola and Jonathon Ceglar will compete to be the medical substitute to be announced an hour before the first bounce.
Doors will open at the MCG from 6pm. For those watching at home the game will be televised on Channel Seven and Fox Footy, or you can listen to the call live on Krock Football.
