Boris Johnson cannot deny that he offered the best job to Carrie Symonds
Boris Johnson has vowed to “listen and learn” after the Conservatives were defeated on Thursday in two by-elections, prompting increased calls for his resignation.
“I won’t pretend these are brilliant results,” he admitted.
Former Conservative Party leader Michael Howard is among those urging the prime minister to resign after the disastrous double defeats at Wakefield and Tiverton.
The Conservative father, who has remained silent on the issue of leadership, also suggested that cabinet ministers should consider moving against the prime minister if he clings to number 10.
Earlier, Oliver Dowden left his role as chairman of the Conservative Party because “he cannot continue to defend the indefensible,” a senior Conservative suggested.
Cabinet minister Dowden resigned shortly after the Conservatives lost votes to Wakefield and Tiverton & Honiton, where Partygate was again raised by voters at the door.
Simon Lightwood won for Labor in Wakefield in West Yorkshire after getting 13,166 votes, compared to the Conservatives ’8,231. Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat Richard Foord convincingly won in Devon, nullifying a significant Conservative majority.

Defeats in by-elections cannot be “written as half-term blues,” says Conservative MP
An anonymous Conservative MP has said Boris Johnson must leave because the by-election results cannot simply be “erased as half-term blues”.
Politicians, who spoke to PA Media on condition of anonymity, said: “When we suffered partial electoral losses during the Cameron years, for example, we caught our chin because the then government was doing things. conservatives.
“His economic policy, for example, was much more conservative than the current Conservative government, literally a majority of 80 seats. People in the party were nervous because there was a long-term economic plan, which Cameron and Osborne were competent to sell.
“That’s why a defeat to Tiverton and Honiton can’t be ignored. It precipitates an electoral disaster, which can only be avoided by replacing Boris Johnson for the best leadership the Conservative Party needs and deserves.”

Voices: Oliver Dowden’s resignation is worse news for Boris Johnson than the double partial electoral defeat
