Queen’s funeral ‘will unite us all’

The Queen’s state funeral, in which world leaders and foreign royalty will join the king for the first such service at Westminster Abbey in more than 200 years, will “bring together people from all over the world”, said the man responsible for the occasion.

Monday’s service will come three days after Queen Elizabeth’s children stand in front of her coffin at Westminster Hall. The King, the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex will be joined for the Princes’ Vigil for 15 minutes at 7.30pm tonight.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on suggestions there would be a second vigil for the Queen’s grandchildren, led by the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex. Nor would I comment on a report that
