Samsung at CES 2023: New Odyssey Neo G9, ViewFinity S9, Smart Monitor M8 Unveiled

Samsung introduced the new line of premium PC monitors at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

It has introduced four new products: the Odyssey Neo G9 series, Odyssey OLED G9, Smart Monitor M8 and Viewfinity S9.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 (Model Name: G95NC) This new flagship gaming monitor has a massive 57-inch 1000R curved display with quantum mini LED technology. It supports a 240Hz refresh rate, a 7680x2160pi resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio on a display, a first among any gaming PC display.

It features the VESA Display HDR 1000 specification and promises to deliver superior visuals in all gaming environments, from shadows to bright scenes. The matte screen can reduce light reflection on the screen, minimizing distractions during gaming sessions.

It also features the world’s first DisplayPort 2.1 support, which can transfer data twice as fast as the previously used DisplayPort 1.4.

In addition, the new DP2.1 enables industry-standard lossless Screen Stream Compression (DSC) to transmit information without distortion.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 (model name: G95SC) Offers a 49-inch dual 1800R quad-HD curved screen, with a 32:9 aspect ratio. Using quantum dot technology, the display’s OLED lighting is controlled pixel by pixel, allowing for an almost infinite color contrast ratio.

The OLED display illuminates each pixel separately and does not rely on a backlight, enabling a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 to deliver true RGB and true black without color filters.

In addition, Odyssey OLED G9 also boasts a 0.1ms response time to ensure a smooth gaming session and with a 240Hz refresh rate, it will drastically reduce lag and stuttering.

The Odyssey OLED G9 is a smart PC display and can work independently without a desktop. It supports various OTT apps like Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube through the Smart Hub feature.

It also includes Samsung Gaming Hub, an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows gamers to find and play cloud games from partners like Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce without the need for a console or downloading games.

Samsung Smart Monitor M8 Series (Model Name: M80C) Comes with a slim design language and is available in 27-inch and 32-inch screen sizes. Both support 4K screen resolution, and the panels come in four color options: light blue, spring green, sunset pink, and warm white.

Like the predecessor, the company has incorporated a height-adjustable stand with tilt support.

In addition, the screen can now rotate 90 degrees, which helps users view long documents with less scrolling. It also meets VESA mounting compatibility standards to help save space and maintain a clutter-free environment.

The Smart Monitor M8 can connect, control and manage hundreds of compatible connected devices via the built-in SmartThings Hub, including lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats and more.

Plus, it comes integrated with the SlimFit 2K camera and works with video conferencing apps like Google Meet.

The South Korean company has revealed that it plans to expand the options and usability of the devices by supporting Matter functionality and Home Connectivity Alliance standards starting this year.

With superior application support, Smart Monitor M8 can directly support mouse control functionality. Like the Odyssey monitors, the M8 series also includes support for Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and other OTT services via Smart Hub. You can also easily access Samsung Gaming Hub, the all-in-one gaming platform.

The new feature that comes with M8 is My Contents, which provides users with useful information at a glance. Also, when the monitor is in standby mode and detects a smartphone registered via Bluetooth Low Energy, it displays the user’s personalized photos, schedule and more on the screen. The monitor returns to standby mode when the phone moves out of range.

In addition, the Smart Monitor M8 comes built-in with the military-grade Samsung Knox Vault security solution, which encrypts personal data and keeps stored files and information isolated from the device’s main operating system to protect it from attacks.

Samsung ViewFinity S9 (model name: S90PC) Features a 27-inch 5K display, a first for the ViewFinity series. It supports a resolution of 5120 x 2880p, a wide color gamut of 99% DCI-P3, which promises to deliver sharp and true-to-form details.

The monitor’s built-in color calibration engine ensures accurate screen color and brightness, allowing users to adjust white balance, gamma and RGB color balance for perfect accuracy with their smartphones using the ‘Samsung Smart Calibration application.

It has a matte screen, which limits light reflection and glare to minimize distractions while you work.

Users can connect cameras and other devices to the monitor via USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections to easily transfer large high-resolution video files or other large data sets from storage devices to their computer.

The ViewFinity S9 houses a SlimFit 4K camera and supports native video conferencing using apps like Google Meet that are included in the Samsung Smart Hub.

Pricing details are expected to be revealed during local launch events in the coming weeks.
