Oliver Dowden resigned as president of the Conservative Party last Friday after the Conservatives suffered two overwhelming partial electoral defeats. His departure sparked speculation about whether other cabinet ministers could resign, but none did.
George Eustice, the Secretary of the Environment, was asked this morning if Boris Johnson has the full support of all members of his cabinet and he replied, “Yes.”
He told Sky News: “Oliver Dowden has resigned … he resigned and the way collective government works as you know is that those in the cabinet, yes, we have our full support, we work as a team.
“We have the support of the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister has our support, we work together.
“And, you know, we stay together in difficult times and, therefore, even when we do, you have very disappointing election results, as we certainly did last Thursday, we have an important agenda that we are working on and in this we are focused on. . ”
