Transport for London has revealed that bus strikes will take place on Wednesday and Thursday on Abellio bus services.
Buses will still be available on the affected routes in south and west London, but not in their usual numbers.
Meanwhile, RMT general secretary Mick Lynch has said industrial action will have to continue beyond May unless a reasonable offer is made to the RMT.
Speaking from a picket line outside Euston station in London, the union leader told the PA news agency: “We would like to get into a situation where we are constantly negotiating with business and where we should not go on strike.and then work out an agreement that our members could vote on and accept.
“But if we don’t succeed, there will have to be more actions, and we have a mandate that extends until May this year, and if we have to go further, that’s what we’ll have to do. We don’t want it, though.”
It comes as four out of five trains were canceled today as commuters face the worst week of British rail disruption for 30 years.

With strikes looking set to continue, 2023 could be a good year for unions
After decades when, unfortunately, it was usually safe to ignore the statements of union leaders, the most widespread outbreak of industrial action since 1979 has made them household names again.
Not yet as well known as, say, Mick Lynch, is the new general secretary of the Trades Union Congress, Paul Nowak, who formally replaces Frances (now Baroness) O’Grady on 1 January. He’s making a bit of a noisy entrance though.
He told The Independent that strikes could continue into 2023 if the government refuses to negotiate pay rises. If we take ministers at their word, which they won’t until at least the new recommendations from the public pay bodies come in in April, then the country is in for a prolonged period of conflict.

I’m a nurse, that’s why I voted for the strike
Ever since I was little, I dreamed of being a nurse working for the NHS. Twelve years ago, after a lot of hard work and determination, I achieved this goal. There were many sacrifices on the part of my family, who supported me throughout my course.
I currently work as an assistant nurse in an NHS hospital in Lincolnshire.
My role is to be part of an acute cardiology team that has face-to-face contact with patients who come to hospital after a heart attack and after a cardiac arrest.

Who is calling this winter and why?
Workers in several key UK service sectors are striking in what is being dubbed the new “winter of discontent” as cost-of-living pressures collide with offers of below-inflation pay.
Many strikes, such as that of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT), have been going on for months, with warnings to unions that they will vote to take their fight to 2023.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said 417,000 working days were lost due to strikes in October, the highest monthly total since November 2011 saw a massive fall in the public sector by pension reforms.

Strikes can make inflation worse
Kris Hamer, director of information at the British Retail Consortium, warned that continued rail strikes could push inflation higher.
Train staff cuts meant fewer people were on high streets ahead of the Christmas period.
Speaking to the BBC, Hamer said: “We saw before Christmas that sales were relatively low. When the strikes were in place, there was a shift in spending from stores to the chain.
“It’s expensive to run shops. With business rates to pay, those costs have to be covered and the effect of reducing demand levels because people can’t get to shops is really inflationary.
“That’s the last thing we need.”
