Former Britain’s No. 1 John Lloyd has been at the BBC for breakfast this morning to talk about Cam Norrie’s defeat in the semi-finals to Novak Djokovic.
He said, “Norrie, I have to say, I remember doing television when he made his Davis Cup debut a few years ago and I described him as the best Davis Cup debut in history when he beat Bautista Agut.
“If you told me I would go to the Wimbledon semi-finals three years later, I would have said bluntly, ‘You’re crazy!’ But he has done it, the preparation he goes through, the mental strength he has, the attitude, the stamina.
“Now he’s one of the big guns. He wasn’t scared at all and he faced Djokovic and he was playing brilliantly. The great Novak we all know came back, but what an effort from Cam.”
