At least 10 people have been killed after Russian airstrikes hit the eastern Ukrainian town of Kurakhove on Wednesday in a “deliberate attack” on civilians.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike in the city as “very brutal” in his late-night video on Wednesday.
“The Russian military carried out a very brutal and absolutely deliberate attack on Kurakhove,” he said.
“Precisely to civilians. To ordinary people. In the market, elevator, gas station, bus station, apartment building. The death list so far includes ten people, there are many injured.”
Kurakhove is in the Donetsk region, which has seen some of the heaviest fighting since Russia’s war against Ukraine began.
Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy chief of Mr Zelensky’s office, had previously reported the attack on Telegram, showing video footage of burning buildings.
“Terrorists are inhuman,” Tymoshenko wrote. “And they will be held accountable.”
