Argentina were left searching for their second goal after Lautaro Martínez’s goal was also ruled offside.

Argentina found the back of the net four times in the first half, but Messi’s 10th-minute penalty remained the only real score thanks to three goals ruled out for offside.

According to OptaAnalyst, Argentina have already been offside seven times in this game. The last team to have more in a World Cup match was the Netherlands against Costa Rica in 2014 with 13 offside calls.
