A teenager has died in a Boxing Day tragedy at a south-east Melbourne beach, the third water-related death in two days.
Emergency services responded to reports of a teenager missing in the water in Mordialloc at around 4pm on Monday afternoon, with crews searching from the air and on the ground in an attempt desperate to find the boy.
The 17-year-old was pulled from the water unresponsive a short time later and despite the efforts of rescue teams could not be saved.

“CPR was commenced but sadly he died at the scene,” Victoria Police said on Monday.
It comes after a teenager also drowned on Christmas Eve while bodysurfing with two others in the Victorian holiday town of Lorne.
The 19-year-old was one of three youths in the water Sunday near where the Cumberland River meets the ocean at the beach when the trio ran into trouble.
The trio had been bodysurfing when one of them got into trouble just before 6pm.
The teenager, from St Albans, could not be saved and died at the scene. Two other men were taken to hospital.
A man believed to be in his 30s also died in Victoria after being pulled from a lake on the Victoria-NSW border on Christmas Day.
The man entered the water to chase his dog at Kookaburra Point in Ebden, near Albury-Wodonga, just before 3pm.
Victoria Police said beachgoers saw him start to struggle and pulled him ashore.
They performed CPR before the ambulance paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to hospital where he died.
