Chrissy Teigen has revealed that her late son, Jack, died in a “life-saving abortion” and not a miscarriage as she previously shared.
“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions,” Teigen said at a summit.
“It became very clear halfway through that he wasn’t going to survive and I wasn’t going to survive either without some medical intervention.”
Teigen, who shares daughter Luna and son Miles with John Legend and is currently pregnant, noted that she had tremendous medical care and a wonderful support system, but only recently found out she had miscarried.
“Let’s face it: It was an abortion,” Teigen, 36, said.
“An abortion to save my life for a baby that didn’t stand a chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put it together until, in fact, a few months ago.”
The former model said it “hadn’t made sense that way” until the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Page Six reported. She had been sympathetic to people who would have had to make difficult decisions when Legend reminded her that she had been one of them.
“I kept quiet, feeling weird that I hadn’t heard him that way,” Teigen shared. “I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world accepted we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage.
“And I felt really frustrated because I didn’t say what it was in the first place, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to realize that we had miscarried.”
Teigen and Legend, 43, announced in late September 2020 that they had lost their son to a miscarriage along with a series of heartbreaking black-and-white photos taken from the hospital room.
