The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers will continue their National League Division Series with Game 2 on Wednesday night. The Dodgers won Game 1 by a 5-3 final on Tuesday, taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series. At stake is the chance to play the Philadelphia Phillies or Atlanta Braves for the NL pennant.
The Padres will start Yu Darvish in Game 2. He posted a 3.10 ERA (121 ERA+) and a 5.32 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 30 regular season starts. Darvish recently started in the Wild Card Series against the New York Mets, pitching seven innings of one-run ball in a win. This will be his ninth career playoff appearance.
The Dodgers will counter with Clayton Kershaw. In 22 regular season appearances, he compiled a 2.28 ERA (184 ERA+) and a 5.96 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Kershaw will be making his first playoff start, but hardly the first of his career. In fact, this will be his 38th postseason appearance, second most in franchise history. (Former shortstop Kenley Jansen appeared in 57 games for the Dodgers.)
