Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said at the Xiaomi 13 launch press conference that he has been using the iPhone for over a year and many people on the Internet have criticized and even mocked him.
Lei Jun said in a statement that Xiaomi would not have been able to produce high-end mobile phones without the company’s courage and determination to benchmark its phones against the iPhone. He confirmed that Xiaomi is looking closely at everything related to the iPhone and mentioned the superiority in both software and hardware. “This is the beginning of an opportunity to surpass the iPhone in the future.” said

Lei Jun also said that Xiaomi invests heavily in research and development every year, adding that the Xiaomi 13 is aimed at potential iPhone 14 buyers, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro will compete with the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Speaking of the camera, Lei Jun recalled that the Xiaomi 13 Pro uses a 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 image sensor jointly developed by Xiaomi and Sony. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 48-megapixel image sensor. The sale of the new flagship smartphones Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will start in China on December 14, that is, this Wednesday.
