Rapper Drake joined the boys band during his performance of “I Want It That Way.” It was the second of two shows the group did in Drake’s hometown as part of their DNA World Tour.
Before launching into the iconic song, People magazine, accrediting online footage, reported that Drake shared a personal story about why the Backstreet Boys hit is significant to him.
“At 13 I had a bar mitzvah, and in my bar mitzvah, for the first time in my life, this girl I was in love with approached me while playing one of the biggest songs in the world, and I went asking if he would dance with her, ”he said, according to the magazine. “It was the first time I felt recognized, and it was the first time I felt like, you know, I had a chance to be great.”
According to a video posted on the band’s social media, Drake brought his voice to some harmonies, but most of all he danced, excited the audience and enjoyed the performance from the best seat in the house.
He also made a final bow with the band.
You could say Drake wanted it that way.
The Backstreet Boys’ tour will last until November, with stops near the United States and Canada and then stages in Spain and Germany.
