England manager Gareth Southgate has assured fans that Phil Foden will have a big role to play at the 2022 World Cup.
The Manchester City superstar came off the bench against Iran, while he was unable to see the pitch against the USA with Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka claiming both offside spots.
Many fans are keen to see Foden in a long qualifier against Wales on Tuesday.
“We love Phil, he’s a super player,” Southgate told ITV. “He was in the first game, we decided not to put him in the second, but he will play a big part in this tournament for us, there’s no doubt about that.
“We don’t have a problem with Phil. In September, he started both games for us and we put him in the game against Iran. We decided to stay with this team and we felt that the changes required something a little different for the US..
“But we intend to be here as long as we can and he’s a super player and we think the world of him, and he’ll play a big part.”
