The Patriots and Bears have half of football on the books, and boy did it have its fair share of drama. After entering as heavy underdogs, Chicago was able to jump out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. While the Bears moved the ball effectively, New England’s offense was slow out of the gate as they welcomed back Mac Jones as their starting quarterback. This return, however, was short-lived.
After throwing a sloppy interception, Bill Belichick sent Jones to the bench in place of rookie Bailey Zappe and saw immediate results. With Zappe under center, New England scored back-to-back touchdowns to pull the game back and take the lead briefly. While the Patriots were riding momentum with Zappe’s injection into the lineup, Chicago regained the lead just before halftime thanks to a Khalil Herbert touchdown and subsequent field goal to put them up by six.
Given the look of New England’s offense, it’s safe to assume that Zappe will be under center for the rest of the game, meaning there’s still more action to come as these two clubs square off in the second part
